Buckwheat Ski Classic
A cross country ski race along a breathtaking White Pass mountain course that gold seekers traversed during the Gold Rush of 1898.  Fast becoming an international event with entrants from Alaska, British Columbia, Yukon, Austria, and Germany.  Amateurs and professional skiers alike will find this course matches their abilities and is a competition not to be missed.

April 24, 2009 International Mini Folk Festival
Annual International Mini Folk Festival, one day in Skagway with musicians of Southeast Alaska, then a trip to Whitehorse for another day of music, music, and more music.  Coincides with the return of swans to Whitehorse.

July 4, 2009 Independence Day Activities
Our July 4th celebration has been history making since Soapy Smith rode at the head of our first parade in 1898.  Fireworks on night of July 3rd, then an old fashioned family fun day with races, contests, and events for all to enjoy.  Events include Slow Bike race, Pie Eating contest, Horseshoe tournament and Egg Toss.

July 4, 2009 Ducky Derby
1000 little plastic duckies race to a finish line over a route that includes passing through 2 culverts, under railroad tracks, always in danger of getting caught in the trees lining the  bank and the water loving dog that likes to pursue them.  Purchase a ticket for your duck then be close by to cheer him/her on.  CONTACT THE SKAGWAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO PURCHASE YOUR DUCKY TICKET.

The con man of Skagway's Gold Rush days is toasted at an annual ritual started by Soapy's grandkids and the Day of '98 Show cast in the mid 1970's.  No guns allowed!!

Skagway is by official state declaration the "Garden City of Alaska", this annual three day event showcases the variety, size and beauty of Skagway's gardens and flower adorned businesses.

September 11-12, 2009 Klondike Road Relay
A 110 mile relay race that begins in Skagway, Alaska on Friday and ends in Whitehorse, Yukon the next afternoon.  Teams of 10 members from all over the world compete in this event.  162 teams competed in 1998, some for the race experience and some just for fun (one Skagway team is named Muckrakers).
